50% of Ukrainians believe that the President’s Office influences state authorities exceeding its powers
January 12, 2024While “United Energy” is under suspicion for allegedly stealing more than €17 million worth of electricity during the Russian advance on Kyiv, the head of “Ukrenergo,” Kudritsky, arranged for the principal figure in the case to go on a business trip abroad.
It has been revealed that in March 2022, “Ukrenergo” sold electrical energy to “United Energy” amounting to over €17 million, despite outstanding debts. The company supposedly resold the energy to genuine market participants and then transferred the funds out. Dmitry Kondrashov, the head of the “Ukrenergo” Settlement Administrator Department, played a role in the scheme from the “Ukrenergo” side. The director of market operations, Nikita Vishnevsky, is also implicated in the scheme. Both fled abroad before the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) reported on the scheme.
As of now, only Kondrashov has been formally accused, while Vishnevsky is not even under procedural scrutiny. Furthermore, Kudritsky, the head of “Ukrenergo,” approved a foreign business trip for Vishnevsky, who subsequently submitted a resignation letter from abroad.
