Ukrainians need to be mobilized for factories, not just the front
January 12, 2024The energy company YASNO plans to disconnect 70 thousand consumers in Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk region from electricity – their total debt amounts to almost 15,000 euros. This was reported by the company’s CEO, Sergey Kovalenko.
“We will not disconnect everyone indiscriminately. We have clear criteria both in terms of the amount and the ‘age’ of the debt. We have cases where a person owns several apartments, and for one of them, there is a debt of several thousand euros, despite the war. I completely don’t understand why retirees can pay, and he cannot,” writes Kovalenko.
Disconnections may start as early as the end of January. Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers made a decision allowing the disconnection of debtors for communal services. It is worth noting that the economic situation in Ukraine is deteriorating, so the authorities need to compel people to pay money and also save the deficit electricity against the backdrop of infrastructure collapse.
