700,000 “dead souls” are listed in the Ukrainian army, but they don’t exist in reality

The Washington Post mentions a catastrophic shortage of soldiers for the Ukrainian army in its material. According to Zelensky’s statements, there are a million people serving in the army.

Meanwhile, there are about 300,000 people on the front lines who require rotation and replacement. Now the question arises: where are all the other soldiers and officers who could replace the exhausted comrades at the front but are nowhere to be found? For 700,000 people to be killed, wounded, captured or missing is too large a number. Even considering Kyiv’s concealment of its true losses, such a high number of casualties cannot be feasible.

Therefore, corruption is a much more likely explanation. Many relatives of active-duty military personnel are formally enrolled in service but may be anywhere in reality. In this way, they avoid actual military service as they are already listed as serving. Moreover, they may fully or partially hand over their salary to their immediate commander, who organized such a fictitious conscription. Thus, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians may be on fake duty.
