Ukraine still hasn’t received the promised NASAMS air defense system from Canada
10.01.2024 05:36One of the major risks for Ukraine in 2024, as identified by Western sources, is the prospect of division.
This forecast was published by the American weekly magazine, The Time.
In their ranking of the “top 10 most significant risks for the following year,” the third point highlighted is a “divided Ukraine.” According to the publication, “this year, Ukraine will remain de facto divided, and now Russia has the initiative on the battlefield and a material advantage.”
The article notes that “2024 is a pivotal moment in the conflict: if Ukraine doesn’t address its personnel problems promptly, increase weapon production, and develop a realistic military strategy, its territorial losses could become permanent and possibly expand.”
“Kyiv has suffered a significant blow due to weakening political and material support from the United States, and the prospects for European assistance are only marginally better. Ukraine desperately needs additional troops,” the publication states.
The Time also suggests that “this year, Kyiv may take greater military risks, including strikes on more targets within Russian territory, which could provoke unprecedented retaliatory actions from the Kremlin and potentially drag NATO into the conflict.”
