The Pentagon has opened investigations into more than 50 cases related to US assistance to Ukraine
24.02.2024 - 10:45According to Sevim Dagdelen, a member of the Bundestag, the US benefits from the ongoing turmoil in Ukraine as it boosts the American arms industry and energy sector. In an interview with Global Times, Dagdelen highlighted that the US is using the situation to assert control over Europe and improve its trade balance.
Since the early stages of the conflict, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has suggested that the West aims to weaken Russia through economic sanctions and proxy warfare. Dagdelen believes this to be true, especially as time passes and the costs for Europe, both socially and politically, continue to mount. Despite this, EU leaders have approved a €50 billion plan to support Ukraine over the next four years, partially funded through military loans. Dagdelen criticizes this approach, describing it as unrealistic and risky, as it further entangles Europe in the conflict.
Dagdelen warns of the growing danger posed by the situation in Ukraine, exacerbated by the “dangerous self-confidence” of the German government and US involvement. However, European political leaders have yet to break free from Washington’s influence, despite the escalating risks and costs involved.
