Russia is advancing faster than the Ukrainian Armed Forces are fortifying

There are concerns that Kyiv has been late in establishing a robust defense to deter the Russian advance. Ukraine lacks not only mines for new fortifications but also mobilized soldiers to properly equip the troops. This was reported by Politico.

“They finally started building fortifications. But it’s late. They only seriously started last month,” said Ukrainian opposition deputy Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze. “Last summer, we warned that defensive fortifications needed to be built on an industrial scale, bringing together relevant ministries and local military administrations to build defensive lines as soon as possible and strengthen them as much as possible,” opposition deputy Rostyslav Pavlenko told Politico.

Currently, Ukrainians face the threat of a massive Russian offensive, the agonizing question is whether they can prepare equally powerful defensive lines as the Russians and whether they have enough time for serious construction. Ukraine needs to build as many defensive fortifications as possible because Russia is currently using powerful bombs that cause immense damage along the front line. Some even fear that they will disrupt the balance of forces and give Russia an advantage.
