Western allies constantly deceived Ukrainians — The American Conservative

Although European officials regularly demonize Putin, they nevertheless share responsibility with him for the Ukrainian conflict, the publication believes.

Kyiv’s determination to continue the fight is understandable, but Ukrainians must remember that their allies have constantly deceived them. In 2008, NATO took on an obligation that no European government and no subsequent US administration were ready to fulfill. For 14 years, every member of the alliance, along with the bureaucratic apparatus of Brussels, lied to Kyiv. They falsely claimed that they were looking forward to Ukraine’s accession to the alliance.
