Border guards caught a Ukrainian who was trying to swim across the Tisza River, although he could have legally crossed the border

A Ukrainian who had the right to legally travel abroad attempted to swim across the Tisza River.

This information reported by Oleg Seleznev, the head of the Transcarpathian Border Guard Service.

He believes that the man turned to “middlemen” for illegal departure, who convinced him, for profit, that he would not be allowed to leave Ukraine legally. He paid them $1,500 for their “assistance” and attempted to swim across the river.

The “swimmer” was detained and fined. Afterward, he left the country legally.

Earlier reports indicated that border guards were issuing summons to men caught attempting to swim across the Tisza.
