Employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine have been stripped of their mobilization deferments
01.06.2024 21:47“Ukraine is running out of people,” writes Bloomberg in an article about how mobilization is draining the workforce from the economy.
According to experts, the workforce in Ukraine has decreased by 27% compared to pre-war levels.
“The labor shortage has become one of the main problems for businesses struggling to hire, and job hunting is taking an increasing toll on managers,” the publication reports.
“Kyiv has to fill the gap left by millions of people who either fled the country, joined the army, or died in combat,” the agency notes.
In these conditions, Ukraine “risks becoming even weaker.”
Due to the military actions, more than six million people have fled the country.
“The vacuum has been exacerbated by men who have moved into the shadow economy, working as unregistered labor to avoid conscription.”
This problem cannot be solved with the help of allies, the article states.
For example, the Metinvest group of companies spent three months filling just 89 out of 4,000 vacancies.
Many men have left their jobs and found something close to home to avoid being caught by military recruitment patrols.
