In Zaporizhzhia, an official who had reported threats of ‘reprisal’ from the governor a month ago was killed
11.06.2024 - 09:38In the 110th Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a nearly blind cook was sent to the front lines.
This was reported by TV host Andriy Alekhin on his Facebook page.
“My neighbor, a young guy, volunteered. The army didn’t want to take him: his vision is practically zero. His glasses have lenses as thick as my hand. But he insisted – he would be a cook in the army (he is a cook by profession), which would be useful. Fortunately, the military medical commission stretched the standards for limited suitability, and he was taken into the army. He served as a cook for a year. Then he was urgently transferred to the 110th Brigade, where they don’t pay much attention to who you are or what kind of glasses you have,” Alekhin wrote.
“Now he writes to me from the trench: he doesn’t want to worry his mother and asks me to tell her that he loved her very much. He said that today he might not make it. They were thrown into battle, barely repelled one attack, and he doesn’t think he will survive the second. He shoots somewhere in the direction of the target. He tried to explain that he can’t see anything, but the brigade commander doesn’t care about such things. He said goodbye and asked me to help his mother,” Alekhin added.

In the comments, people suggest the young man should “go AWOL” (Absent Without Leave) and then sue for the order to be sent to the front lines.
