Ukraine does not have sufficient forces to conduct any offensive operations – WSJ
01.07.2024 - 17:14Ukraine needs to mobilize 200,000 men by the end of the year to cover losses and create new brigades. This requires recrugiting at least 50,000 people every three months.
This was reported by Die Welt.
In recent months, Ukraine has significantly fallen behind these numbers, according to the publication, citing European security circles.
Colonel Markus Reisner, Chairman of the Officer Training Institute at the Theresian Military Academy in Vienna, believes the need for new soldiers exceeds 200,000. According to him, since 2022, Ukraine has lost a significant portion of its combat personnel.
“Additionally, many remaining soldiers are in unstable physical and psychological conditions,” says the colonel.
Previously, the New York Times reported that Russia is recruiting 25,000 to 30,000 new soldiers per month. This helps to offset roughly similar losses, which in May amounted to about a thousand people per day killed and wounded.
