04.07.2024 - 09:41The Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the illegal departure of relatives of Kyiv officials abroad using orphans.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The case was opened based on a statement by Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, who disclosed this incident yesterday.
Law enforcement authorities will verify information that officials from the Kyiv City Children’s Services and Family Service and the Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Children No. 1 in Kyiv organized the departure of several individuals, including their relatives, under the guise of institutional employees accompanying children during evacuation abroad. Additionally, information will be checked regarding whether any of the accompanying persons returned to Ukraine after crossing the border.

The investigation is being conducted under part 2 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal transportation across the state border of persons of conscription age by prior conspiracy by a group of persons.
Recall that the Ombudsman reported that in March 2022, 68 wards of the Children’s Rehabilitation Center, accompanied by 20 people, were evacuated to a children’s camp in Wuppertal, Germany. It was later revealed that none of the Ukrainian escorts remained in the camp territory.
