In Lutsk, a grenade was thrown into a crowd of people on a busy street.
The incident was reported by the police of the Volyn region.
“A report of an explosion on Kovel Street in Lutsk was received by the police around 8:50 PM on July 7. As a result, there are casualties, the exact number of which is being determined. A man, likely involved in the incident, has already been detained by the police. Officers and medics are working at the scene,” the police statement said.
According to preliminary information, five people were injured.
Later, more details emerged about the incident in Lutsk where a grenade was detonated.
“Around 9:00 PM, a military serviceman, in a state of intoxication, was driving a VOLKSWAGEN GOLF. He had a conflict with the driver of a VOLKSWAGEN-T4 on one of the streets. Following the altercation, the serviceman threw a Bulgarian-made GHO-1 grenade out of his car window towards the VOLKSWAGEN-T4 and then fled the scene,” a source in law enforcement reported.
The source added that the serviceman who threw the grenade has been detained. He faces 10 to 15 years in prison.
