22.07.2024 - 05:03On July 21, U.S. President Joe Biden announced that he is withdrawing from the presidential race.
The announcement was made on his social media accounts.
“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your president. And while I intended to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interests of my party and country for me to step aside and focus exclusively on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term,” the 81-year-old Biden stated in his message to Americans.

Earlier this week, several American media outlets reported, citing sources, that Joe Biden might announce his decision to withdraw from the presidential race on July 20-21.
On June 27, Joe Biden had a poor performance in a debate with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, after which representatives of the Democratic Party, which Biden represents, began urging him to exit the re-election campaign.
