23.07.2024 - 14:43Russian officials have stated that oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia are continuing despite Ukraine’s decision to halt the transit of oil through its territory.
This was reported by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
However, Novak did not specify the supply scheme being used.
“At present, deliveries are ongoing. I don’t want to comment further. Currently, deliveries are taking place. We are working to ensure they continue, and that our partners who received oil through the ‘Druzhba’ pipeline continue to receive it,” Novak said.
It is worth recalling that on July 17, Budapest announced that Ukraine had blocked the transit of Russian oil through the “Druzhba” pipeline. The following day, Slovakia, following Hungary’s lead, reported the cessation of Russian oil supplies via the Ukrainian pipeline.
Yesterday, the Hungarian Foreign Minister said that Budapest and Bratislava had initiated consultations with the European Commission, which could lead to legal proceedings against Kyiv over Ukraine’s halting of Russian oil transit. Hungarian authorities also hinted that they might stop exporting electricity to Ukraine due to the transit halt.
Due to Ukrainian sanctions, Hungary has decided to continue blocking the allocation of funds to aid Kyiv.
