05.08.2024 16:00In the village of Kelmentsi, Chernivtsi region, a woman assaulted a member of the military medical commission at a bus stop due to a positive evaluation for her mobilized husband, who she claims is suffering from cancer.
This incident is detailed in the verdict of the Kelmentsi District Court dated July 22, published in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.
The pre-trial investigation established the circumstances of the assault. On the morning of May 16, the defendant arrived by bus at the public transport stop in Kelmentsi. Accompanying her from the bus was a doctor from the Kelmentsi Municipal Multidisciplinary Hospital and a member of the military medical commission. When the defendant saw the doctor, she immediately attacked her, striking her in the face and pulling her to the ground by her hair.
The woman accused the doctor of the military medical commission’s decision that deemed her husband fit for military service. Believing that the doctor was responsible for the decision, the enraged woman struck the doctor in the face with her left hand.
In court, the defendant partially admitted her guilt and explained that she only wanted to question the doctor about how she could determine that her husband was completely healthy when he had chronic illnesses. She insisted on further examination for her husband and wanted the doctor to accompany her to the chief doctor of the Kelmentsi hospital. The doctor refused. During the conversation, the doctor did not want to review the cancer patient’s test results, which angered the defendant, leading her to strike the doctor.
Despite the man’s poor health, the workers of the territorial recruitment center took him into service. The defendant’s son had died in the war, and another son is also serving.
The assaulted doctor testified in court that after the beating, she was diagnosed with a concussion and underwent a lengthy treatment.
The judge found the defendant guilty of causing minor bodily harm and imposed a fine of 850 hryvnias (19 euros). The verdict can be appealed.
