
‘They’ve tasted money.’ Why cases of ‘aiding the aggressor’ are being massively opened against Ukrainian businesses

26.08.2024 - 22:03Humanitarian aid worth 170 million UAH (3.7 million euros), which was brought in from abroad for the needs of the army, has disappeared without a trace.
This was stated in a report from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine following an audit conducted in cooperation with customs authorities.
According to the State Customs Service, the following items passed through Ukrainian customs control for the Armed Forces of Ukraine:
- 424 vehicles,
- 476.23 tons of goods of various types without specified value,
- 6.2 tons of food and plastic granules.
However, the Ministry of Defense was “unable to confirm” the receipt of all these items.
The department has requested law enforcement authorities to investigate certain officials for possible illegal enrichment, misappropriation of property, and abuse of office.
