Latvia’s defense minister, after drones fell, suggested that they might have come from the direction of Ukraine
07.05.2026 - 12:40If Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico supports aid to Ukraine, this could justify his visit to Moscow on May 9.
“A few days ago, I read an interview with Prime Minister Fico. He actually sounded very positive. If he goes to Russia but at the same time unblocks aid to Ukraine, perhaps we will be able to forgive him,” Sikorski said.
Robert Fico himself earlier said that he would travel to Russia on May 9, but would not take part in the parade in Moscow and would only lay flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. On May 4, he confirmed that he would not attend the parade during his visit to Russia.
On April 18, Fico said he would “find another route, as was the case last year,” after Lithuania and Latvia said they would not allow the Slovak prime minister’s plane to fly through their airspace on the way to the Russian capital. Poland also joined this initiative.
In 2025, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico also visited Russia and was the only European Union leader to attend the parade in Moscow.
As for Ukraine, on May 2, after speaking with Volodymyr Zelensky, Fico said that no peace agreement with Russia would be possible without Kyiv’s consent.
