The Office of the President of Ukraine believes that Ukrainians approve of corruption and therefore give bribes

Ukrainians themselves approve of corruption.

This statement was made by Mykhailo Podolyak, advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

“The country is still tolerant of corrupt practices. Those who have gained illegal profits by abusing their administrative position—such as a military commissar and his family—how do they view it? That is tolerant behavior. They think it’s cool. They don’t say to their husband, son, or daughter, ‘Why are you doing this?’ That’s the problem; society needs to rethink this,” Podolyak said.

When asked by the journalist whether he believes that Ukrainians are tolerant of corruption by offering bribes, he responded: “Absolutely.”
