The President of the Czech Republic condemned the idea of victory over Russia at the cost of losing half of Ukraine’s population
25.09.2024 10:25Units of the 72nd Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) have started to ‘quietly retreat’ from Vuhledar to more advantageous defensive positions.
This was reported by “Forbes”.
“I have the impression that Ukraine is gradually withdrawing its troops to hand over the territory to Russia,” noted OSINT analyst Andrew Perpetua.
The publication suggests that Ukrainian forces may be repositioned to the north of Vuhledar, in the village of Bohoyavlenka.
The reason for the retreat from Vuhledar, which the AFU has held since the start of the full-scale war, is considered to be Kyiv’s operation in the Kursk region, according to *Forbes*.
“The Ukrainian defense in the east was already under pressure even before the General Staff in Kyiv ordered units from about eight brigades to attack across the border into the Kursk region last month. Now the defense is giving way more rapidly,” the article states.
It should be recalled that *Forbes* previously wrote that the 72nd Brigade of the AFU defending Vuhledar was at risk of being cut off.
Earlier, Ukrainian military personnel called for the withdrawal of troops from Vuhledar.
