The President of the Czech Republic condemned the idea of victory over Russia at the cost of losing half of Ukraine’s population

Czech President Petr Pavel stated that victory over Russia ‘at the cost of destroying half of Ukraine’s population is not a victory.

His words, spoken during an interaction with journalists in New York, were reported by the publication “Ceske noviny”.

Pavel called the “hopes that the war will end with a clean victory for Ukraine in a few weeks or months” as “dangerous for everyone.”

“I have never questioned that we must support Ukraine in restoring its territorial integrity, as that is the ultimate goal. We just need to realistically assess the timeframe and the cost at which this goal can be achieved,” Pavel added.

He also recalled that, as early as the Munich Conference in 2023, he “warned against unrealistic expectations” in the war.

Meanwhile, U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump expressed the belief that the United States needs to pull out of the war in Ukraine.

At the same time, during his speech at the UN, Volodymyr Zelensky spoke out against peace negotiations with Moscow.
