IAEA records damage to Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant’s turbine hall following drone strike

Experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency have identified damage to the exterior of the turbine hall building at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

This was reported by the organization’s press service.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that the incident had endangered key principles of nuclear safety.

“Attacks on such facilities are unacceptable and must stop in order to prevent a very real threat of a nuclear accident, which will benefit no one,” Grossi said.

According to IAEA experts, radiation levels at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant are currently within normal limits.

The Russian side reported a second drone strike by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the nuclear plant. Ukraine denies this information.

Previously, the IAEA also reported the longest communications outage at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant since the Russian invasion.
