“The most important ally didn’t show much interest.” The Wall Street Journal analyzes Zelensky’s visit to the USA
30.09.2024 12:31Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to support a war of attrition, believing that the West will eventually stop aiding Ukraine. A ceasefire would allow Russian troops to replenish their ranks, address tactical shortcomings, and prepare for new offensives.
This analysis comes from “Bloomberg”.
Such a scenario could also weaken international support for Ukraine. Some Western allies are already looking for reasons to reduce financial aid, such as Germany, which plans to decrease its support budget for Ukraine next year. A ceasefire could create conditions for allies to retreat, increasing Ukraine’s vulnerability to a resurgent Russian military.
To avoid this outcome, according to journalists, the U.S. and its allies must continue to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities by increasing the supply of weapons and air defense systems. However, in reality, Western partners are growing weary of the war in Ukraine and are becoming less willing to offer help.
