04.10.2024 - 12:02The company “Energoatom” has dismissed Oleksandr Skopych from his position as Director of Audit and Compliance Policy after he was recently arrested for accepting a bribe.
This was reported by Energoatom’s Telegram channel.
Energoatom noted that the public information space has recently been flooded with “false paid publications” aimed at undermining the state enterprise, aligning with the enemy’s goal of disrupting the autumn-winter period and targeting new objects for mass attacks. The case involving Skopych, who was recently caught by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) while accepting a bribe, has served as a trigger that intensified this situation.
Energoatom clarified that the allegations against Skopych are not connected to his role within the state enterprise. However, due to the public outcry and his violation of the company’s anti-corruption policies, acting Chairman of the Board, Petro Kotin, issued an order on September 30, 2024, to dismiss Skopych from his position.
At the end of September, reports emerged of the arrest of a former Energoatom employee for accepting a bribe. Although the state enterprise did not initially reveal the employee’s identity, a journalist claimed it was Oleksandr Skopych, who had held the position of Director of Audit and Compliance Policy.
According to the Security Service of Ukraine, the official had been demanding kickbacks of 15% from suppliers of goods and services to the state enterprise. Skopych was caught in the act while receiving 100,000 hryvnias (approximately 2,200 euros).
