04.11.2024 - 10:40Former Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Oleksiy Danilov, has not been appointed as the ambassador to Moldova, despite an announcement made six months ago.
This information was shared on social media by Ukrainian MP Maryana Bezuhla.
According to Bezuhla, as of March 29, 2024, Ukraine has not had an ambassador in Moldova.
“It’s good that a pro-European candidate won in Moldova, but disappointing that we still don’t have an ambassador there. I urge the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address this situation. Sodol? Borysov? Moldova is not far from Odesa. No, Danilov is not the ambassador in Moldova. Since March 29, 2024, we have had no ambassador there,” Bezuhla wrote in her posts.
To recap, on March 26, President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Danilov from his position as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, appointing Oleksandr Lytvynenko, the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, in his place.
On that same day, MP Oleksiy Honcharenko from the “European Solidarity” party announced that Danilov would be sent as ambassador to Norway. However, on March 29, in his evening address, Zelensky stated that Danilov would instead take on the role of ambassador to Moldova.
“He [Danilov] specifically discussed with me his vision for continuing his work for Ukraine. For us, Moldova is a very significant country,” Zelensky explained.
