Storm Shadow strikes deep into Russia will worsen Ukraine’s position – The Guardian
22.11.2024 06:01A total of 61% of residents in Germany oppose the supply of German Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine, which are capable of hitting targets up to 500 kilometers away, including fortified bunkers.
These are the results of a recent Deutschlandtrend survey.
In the former East Germany (GDR), the proportion of opponents to sending the missiles is even higher—76%.
On average across the country, only 27% of respondents support the idea of supplying these missiles with permission to strike targets in Russia, while another 3% believe the missiles could be supplied to Kyiv, but without the permission to strike Russian targets.
The balance between German supporters and opponents of sending Taurus missiles to Ukraine has remained unchanged since March of this year.
Recently, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz once again stated that he is not ready to send Taurus missiles to Ukraine or grant permission to use other German-made weapons to strike targets deep within Russia.
