22.11.2024 12:19After a scandal and public complaints from soldiers, the leadership of the 155th battalion in the 117th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) has been removed.
Since April, the unit has been fighting in the Lyman direction under the 63rd brigade. Soldiers claim that over the past few months, they have received no fire support from the 63rd brigade, and their wounded were not evacuated. They accuse the 63rd brigade of “destroying the unit.”
“In our company, there are three people; in other companies, there are at most six or seven. There is practically no personnel. The battalion is destroyed,” said Junior Sergeant Ivan.
Russia actively “wiped out” their positions with constant aimed fire, resulting in many casualties and WIA (wounded in action).
“The guys under the command of the 63rd brigade, 107th battalion, refuse to go and carry out these criminal, thoughtless orders. The battalion needs to be withdrawn for restoration; psychologists are needed to work with each soldier to improve the morale and psychological state of the troops,” Ivan said.
The 63rd brigade denies the accusations, claiming that it is the battalion command that is not fulfilling its duties, which is why “the soldiers don’t know what to do,” are “disoriented,” and “turn around and run in the direction where there is no shooting.”
It was stated that the battalion lost 11 positions, of which only two were during actual combat. The rest were abandoned by the soldiers themselves. Due to attempts to retake these positions and dislodge the enemy, the 63rd brigade lost four soldiers. However, the soldiers of the 155th battalion claim they withdrew from their positions only on the orders of the command.
A service investigation is underway, with the battalion commander and leadership being removed from their duties. The leadership of the 63rd brigade and the 107th battalion will also be investigated.
