26.11.2024 - 12:17Russia is opposed to freezing the war using the Korean model or any other scenario.
This was stated by the Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, whose words were reported by Russian media.
According to him, a peaceful resolution is possible only if it involves an agreement that ensures “peace for the entire European continent.”
“Russia categorically rejects any freezing of the conflict in the Korean model or any other option. We need a stable and long-lasting peace for many, many years to come. And this peace must first and foremost be ensured for us, Russia, the citizens of the Russian Federation. But this peace must also be ensured for the entire European continent. And the condition for securing peace is the elimination of the reasons that led to the so-called Ukrainian conflict,” Naryshkin said.
He added that Russia is ready for peace talks in Ukraine based on the conditions outlined by Vladimir Putin in June. Among these conditions is the transfer of all territories of the four regions—Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia—from Ukraine to Russia.
Recently, the West noted that the main issue for upcoming peace talks is the differing views between Kyiv and Moscow regarding future security guarantees, which will prevent the conflict from reoccurring.
It is also reported that the administration of Donald Trump will begin working on resolving the conflict in Ukraine as early as January. European representatives are expected to be included at the negotiation table.
