“Draft-age men to be attracted to Ukraine with employment opportunities and draft exemptions”, – Chernyshov says
24.12.2024 - 14:23Some mobilized individuals are going AWOL (Absent Without Leave) while undergoing training abroad.
This information reported according to MP Ruslan Horbenko (Sluga Naroda).
In such cases, a criminal case is opened, and the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) files a request for their listing with Interpol.
He noted that the highest percentage of deserters comes from those forcibly mobilized into newly created brigades.
Previously, the Polish Ministry of Defense confirmed cases of Ukrainian soldiers deserting in Poland.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian men have discovered another scheme to evade mobilization: they seek out single pregnant women to have them list the men as the fathers of their unborn children.
This tactic is likely being used by men who already have two children, as the birth of a third would exempt them from military service. Online advertisements offer $1,000–$2,000 for this arrangement, with some men also willing to pay child support afterward.
Lawyers warn that such a scheme could result in criminal liability for both the man and the mother. However, proving the arrangement without a confession from one party would be difficult. Paternity can be confirmed or disputed through DNA testing, but obtaining a DNA sample without consent in such cases is impossible.
Additionally, lawyers remind men that such children would have legal claims to their assets, and the mother could demand child support.
