This call was made by The Financial Times in an appeal to politicians.
Journalists emphasize that neither a hypothetical peace deal nor concessions from Kyiv are of paramount importance right now, even if such a deal is possible.
“We should no longer elevate this conflict as though it is a global clash determining the fate of the international order as we know it,” the article states.
The author suggests that the U.S. and Europe should reasonably push for a peace deal for Kyiv and avoid creating excessive noise about the ongoing hostilities.
“Ukraine is not the center of the universe,” the observer concluded.
Earlier, it was stated in the U.S. that any negotiations regarding Ukraine should be conducted exclusively between Russia and the United States, without Kyiv’s involvement. The conflict between Moscow and Washington has persisted for a long time, with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky portrayed as merely a puppet in this confrontation.
It was also revealed that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump considers it possible that a peace agreement on Ukraine could be reached by Easter.
Western commentators have further noted the dire consequences of Kyiv’s refusal to engage in peace talks with Moscow. Ukraine has reportedly lost hundreds of thousands of soldiers as well as significant amounts of territory.
