The Verkhovna Rada proposes imprisoning military commissars and medical commission staff for illegal mobilization of Ukrainians
28.01.2025 - 19:27The Transcarpathian furniture manufacturer “Lamella” has decided to bring in workers from Bangladesh due to local residents avoiding employment because of fears of mobilization.
This was revealed by the company’s commercial director, Yaroslav Shcherban.
“We are indeed facing problems with staffing. People simply don’t want to work because they’d have to register with the territorial recruitment centers. We have exemptions for 50% of men, but 50 workers have already been mobilized and are serving, and some have been demobilized due to injuries. We also have women filling in for men, but some tasks are physically impossible for women to perform. For example, a tabletop measuring two meters by one meter needs to be lifted and placed on a machine for further processing. This kind of work requires physical strength,” Shcherban explained.
The company is seeking labor elsewhere, and one international recruitment agency proposed hiring workers from Bangladesh.
Bangladeshi workers are now in the process of obtaining visas to relocate to Transcarpathia. However, instead of the initially planned 160 migrants, only 30 will be arriving.
