21.02.2025 14:16Ukraine has lost 40% of its gas production following Russian missile strikes.
This was reported by Reuters, citing sources.
As a result, Kyiv plans to import up to 800 million cubic meters of gas from Europe in February and March.
“We could have managed without imports this heating season, but the attacks on production are forcing us to import gas to compensate for the decline in domestic output,” a source stated.
Ukraine began increasing gas imports in early February, and since then, volumes have risen nearly tenfold, exceeding 20 million cubic meters per day.
Since the full-scale invasion in 2022, Russia has launched numerous missile and drone attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector. However, in recent weeks, it has intensified strikes on gas fields.
Ukraine’s state-owned gas company *Naftogaz* and major private energy company DTEK have reported that Russia attacked and damaged their facilities at least twice in February.
