According to the survey, 46% of Germans want the next federal government to stop supporting Ukraine with either weapons or money.
In contrast, 28% want the next government to continue sending weapons and financial aid to Ukraine. Meanwhile, 7% of Germans support helping Ukraine only financially, while another 8% support providing only weapons. Additionally, 6% remain undecided, and 3% are indifferent to the issue.
A deeper look into the online survey results reveals gender differences: 51% of women want to end support for Ukraine, compared to 40% of men. Conversely, 35% of men favor continuing to send weapons and financial aid, compared to only 22% of women.
Age distribution is also noteworthy: a majority of Germans aged 18 to 29 (57%) want the next government to end support for Ukraine. In contrast, only 28% of Germans over 70 oppose sending weapons or money.
Support for Ukraine is also more prevalent in western Germany. While 42% of western Germans want to end assistance, the figure is significantly higher in eastern Germany, where 61% oppose further aid. Additionally, 30% of western Germans support continued military and financial aid, compared to just 21% in the east.
The survey was conducted online on February 24, 2025. A total of 1,000 German residents aged 18 and older participated, with 834 respondents also answering questions about their party preferences. The survey is considered representative.
