Zelensky does not intend to apologize to Trump, while in Europe, it is believed that he will have to grovel before him – BBC
04.03.2025 - 12:40The White House continues to criticize Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following the suspension of U.S. weapons deliveries to Kyiv.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt stated that U.S. President Donald Trump wants a deal to quickly end the war in Ukraine, but Zelensky opposes it and is “biting the hand that feeds him.”
“Trump wants to make a deal, he wants Zelensky to be grateful to the United States and the hardworking American taxpayers who have ensured his country’s national security and defense needs. You were right to say that Zelensky was on the verge of signing an economically important document for him. But instead, he put the cart before the horse and bit the hand that feeds him. The U.S. and American citizens are tired of funding this war. President Trump wants to achieve a deal [to end the war]. Unfortunately, it seems that President Zelensky does not want that yet,” Leavitt said on Fox News.
Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated in an interview with Fox News that Volodymyr Zelensky will not be able to return to the Oval Office unless he agrees to discuss the details of a peace agreement for Ukraine.
According to Vance, during his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, the Ukrainian president demonstrated an unwillingness to engage in the peace process. The vice president noted that Trump initially remained polite despite “jabs and lies” from Zelensky.
Vance suggested that a peace agreement on Ukraine “will not make anyone happy,” as all sides will have to make concessions.
Regarding security guarantees for Ukraine, Vance argued that the best option is to “give Americans an economic perspective” instead of military deployments.
“That is a much better guarantee than 20,000 troops from a country that has not been at war for 30 or 40 years,” Vance stated.
He added that European leaders must convince Zelensky of the need to end the war.
“The craziest thing about this situation is that some European leaders publicly puff out their chests and declare, ‘We are with President Zelensky for the next 10 years.’ Then, in private, they pick up the phone and say, ‘This cannot go on forever. He must sit at the negotiating table.’ What matters is what they say privately. And they must tell Zelensky that bloodshed, killings, and economic destruction are causing problems for everyone,” Vance said.
It is worth noting that, according to U.S. media reports, the United States has halted all military aid to Ukraine, including weapons that were already in transit. These shipments will not reach Ukraine.
The day before, Donald Trump stated that the suspension of military aid to Ukraine had not yet been officially discussed but hinted that the issue could be brought up for discussion.
