The Kremlin denied Western media reports about Moscow’s readiness for a six-month truce
11.03.2025 10:59The United States is once again blocking anti-Russian language in the communiqué.
This was reported ahead of the G7 meeting by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
According to the statement, the U.S. opposes wording that could hinder its ongoing efforts to initiate negotiations involving Russia.
“We believe that antagonistic statements sometimes make it harder to bring the parties to the negotiating table, especially given that right now we appear to be the only ones capable of facilitating such talks,” Rubio said.
He clarified that the U.S. administration views antagonistic statements as obstacles to engaging parties in negotiations, especially considering America’s current role as the sole facilitator of potential talks.
Foreign ministers from the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the U.S. are scheduled to meet at the riverside resort of La Malbaie, Quebec, from March 12–14, marking their first gathering since Donald Trump’s inauguration.
As diplomats prepare for the meeting, sources recall that the media previously reported on President Trump’s administration blocking similar anti-Russian wording to avoid complicating diplomatic efforts.
Earlier, the media reported that on November 21, 2024, a UN resolution condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was adopted at the initiative of Ukraine and European countries.
