18.03.2025 12:00In a regional center in northeastern Ukraine, a car carrying military enlistment officers hit a cyclist while in motion.
The incident was captured on video and shared by local Telegram channels.
A white sedan collided with the cyclist near a garage cooperative. After falling onto the asphalt, the man abandoned his damaged bicycle and ran away.
A bearded man in camouflage pants exited the vehicle, freed the bent front wheel of the bicycle from under the car’s fender, and began chasing the cyclist.
Later, the Kharkiv Regional Military Recruitment Center commented on the widely discussed incident.
According to the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC), its officers hit the cyclist accidentally. Furthermore, in a Facebook statement, the TRC claimed that the recruiters stopped specifically to assist the injured man, but he fled.
By the end of the day, Kharkiv Telegram channels published new footage showing the pursuit.
In the video, apparently recorded from a high-rise building, the same bearded man is seen catching up with the cyclist on the opposite side of the garage area. Another recruiter and the white Renault car soon arrive.
Four TRC officers and the detained cyclist are then confronted by three elderly onlookers, who fail to prevent them from taking the young man away.
No police officers are visible in the footage. The cyclist’s bike appears to have been left at the scene of the accident. The TRC has not commented on these additional videos.
A similar incident occurred in the city recently, when a military recruiter in a balaclava ambushed and pushed a draft-age man off his bicycle. Two minibuses immediately arrived, and the man was forcibly taken away.
The TRC has stated that only “unmotivated individuals who do not want to join the army” remain in Kharkiv.
Earlier, a similar case occurred near Ternopil, where recruiters knocked a cyclist down during a pursuit—a fact confirmed by the TRC.
