01.04.2025 17:07Russia has handed the U.S. and the UN a list of sites it accuses Ukraine of shelling — in violation of the partial ceasefire agreement.
This was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a meeting with journalists.
According to him, the list was delivered to U.S. National Security Advisor Michael Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, both members of President Donald Trump’s administration.
Lavrov claims that Moscow continues to honor the ceasefire, although Ukraine also accuses Russia of violating it.
The Foreign Minister also announced a new round of negotiations with the U.S., stating that “a second meeting is being prepared.”
The Russian minister noted that “there are signs of progress and a desire from our American partners to remove the unacceptable obstacles to the work of our countries’ diplomats.”
“A second meeting is currently being prepared. In the meantime, contacts are ongoing via phone and video conferencing. I don’t want to make predictions, but we are seeing progress and a willingness on the part of our American partners to remove these completely unacceptable obstacles, from the standpoint of diplomatic practice, to the normal functioning of our embassies in the capitals,” Lavrov said.
According to journalists commenting on Lavrov’s statement, this upcoming meeting will likely concern embassy operations and diplomatic relations between the two countries — rather than the situation in Ukraine. The previous meeting on this matter took place in Istanbul.
In addition, Lavrov mentioned that the U.S. is reviewing Russia’s conditions regarding the “Black Sea deal” on a maritime ceasefire and has promised to respond soon.
As a reminder, the last round of negotiations on Ukraine ended with Russia demanding a partial lifting of sanctions in exchange for implementing the ceasefire agreement in the Black Sea.
The U.S. has yet to respond to these conditions. Donald Trump has promised to consider the issue.
