28.04.2025 - 09:28Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, stated that Moscow is ready for direct negotiations with Ukraine without any preconditions.
However, the Kremlin believes that Ukraine must also signal its readiness for direct talks. So far, according to Peskov, Moscow “sees no actions” from Kyiv.
“Kyiv must take some steps in this regard. There is a legal ban. So far, we see no actions,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
He was referring to Ukraine’s 2022 presidential decree that prohibits negotiations with Putin.
Peskov emphasized, “The Russian president’s willingness to start negotiations with Ukraine without any preconditions has been repeatedly confirmed, in order to move toward a peaceful resolution. Efforts are ongoing.”
Peskov also mentioned that a conversation between Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump is not currently scheduled but could be quickly arranged if necessary.
It is worth noting that two days ago, Peskov had already stated that Putin was ready for negotiations with Ukraine without any preconditions.
Yesterday, he added that during U.S.–Russia talks about Ukraine, American representatives expressed many ideas that align with Moscow’s position.
