15.05.2025 - 07:46Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Dubinsky, currently held in pre-trial detention, has formally appealed to President Volodymyr Zelensky to include him in Ukraine’s delegation for the upcoming peace talks in Istanbul.
He made the statement on his Telegram channel.
Dubinsky claimed that the Ukrainian authorities have reached a dead end by repressing citizens for dissenting opinions, social media reposts, affiliations with banned churches, and for speaking Russian. He argued that the voices of these people must be represented at the negotiation table, saying that “no lasting peace is possible” without them.
Earlier, Dubinsky had stated that Kyiv has lost all leverage and has nothing left to threaten with, which is why Zelensky agreed to participate in the negotiations. He also said any further threats from Ukraine would now be met with ridicule.
Previously, Dubinsky commented that U.S. President Donald Trump would likely reject Zelensky’s ceasefire conditions, due to concerns that the conflict could resume after a temporary pause.
