“No one will be satisfied”: The U.S. Secretary of Defense confirmed that Trump will discuss territorial swaps with Putin

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has once again confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss “territory swaps.”

He made this statement during a broadcast on Fox News.

“At the negotiation stage, there may be territory swaps, there will be concessions. No one will be happy. But if anyone can do it, it’s Trump,” Hegseth said.

The Trump–Putin meeting is scheduled for August 15 in Alaska.

The Telegraph has already reported that Ukraine is rejecting the U.S. president’s proposals but is willing to “cede territory already held by Russia.”

According to the publication, Kyiv is ready to freeze the front line in its current position, effectively transferring to Russia control over areas in the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions, as well as Crimea.

The day before, Trump himself stated that a territorial swap would be a key topic in his talks with Putin about Ukraine this Friday.
