The White House has announced the composition of the U.S. delegation for today’s talks with Russia in Alaska.
This was reported by U.S. media.
Accompanying President Donald Trump to Alaska will be Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe.
An earlier list had been reported, which included Vice President J.D. Vance and Stephen Witkoff instead of Lutnick and Ratcliffe.
It should be noted that Bessent and Lutnick are the top U.S. officials responsible for sanctions policy. It was earlier reported that Washington might lift sanctions on Russia in the event of a ceasefire in Ukraine.
On the Russian side, the “5 on 5” talks will include Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, Special Envoy for the U.S. Kirill Dmitriev, and Presidential Aide for International Affairs Yuri Ushakov.
The White House previously stated that the meeting between Trump and Putin in Alaska will begin today, August 15, at 11:00 a.m. local time — which is 10:00 p.m. in both Kyiv and Moscow.
