Elections in Ukraine were the only point of disagreement at Trump-Zelensky White House meeting

The topic of elections in Ukraine became almost the only issue during yesterday’s White House meeting on which U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had public disagreements.

According to the Ukrainian president, democratic and legal elections in Ukraine are impossible during wartime.

“So you’re saying that in three years, if we (apparently meaning the U.S. — Ed.) are at war, there won’t be any more elections? Interesting what fake news will say about that,” Trump quipped.

Zelensky, laughing, replied: “You liked that idea.”

In July, it was reported that this year there will definitely be no local elections in Ukraine, which were originally scheduled for October.
