27.10.2025 - 13:30In the Polish city of Przemyśl, unknown individuals tore down the Ukrainian flag from the building of Ukraine’s consulate.
This was reported by Vasyl Bodnar, Ukraine’s ambassador to Poland, on the social network X.
According to him, another wave of anti-Ukrainian hatred on social media has once again led to the public desecration of Ukraine’s flag in Poland.
“This is at least the fifth act of public desecration of the flag in the same place this year,” Bodnar wrote.
He called on Polish authorities to investigate the incident and identify those responsible.
In recent months, anti-Ukrainian sentiment has been noticeably growing in Poland. Many Poles are dissatisfied with what they see as preferential treatment of Ukrainians, especially as refugees continue to receive social benefits. According to surveys, half of Poland’s population believes that the level of assistance to Ukrainians is excessive, while 8% think refugees should not receive any benefits at all.
One of the key points of tension between Poland and Ukraine is the attitude toward the Bandera ideology. Polish politicians condemned the appearance of a Bandera flag at a concert by Maksim Korzh on August 9 at Warsaw’s National Stadium, where a group of young people waved the red-and-black flag of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and its military wing, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA).
Earlier, Polish lawmakers proposed denying citizenship to individuals who support Bandera’s ideology.
