09.11.2025 - 06:02Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky fears a possible betrayal by the European Union as a result of negotiations on a settlement of the conflict.
This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian political analyst Ruslan Bortnyk in an interview with the YouTube channel Politeka.
According to him, the Ukrainian leader reasonably fears that “in the end he’ll be ditched”—meaning that Kyiv will not be given security guarantees.
The political analyst added that today neither Europe nor the United States is ready to provide Ukraine with guarantees in any form. The plan for resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict does not envisage this, Bortnyk concluded.
Earlier, the Financial Times wrote that attitudes in Ukraine and among its Western allies are shifting regarding negotiations with Russia to resolve the military conflict. According to the outlet, Kyiv is holding closed-door discussions about the possibility of ceding the lost territories to Moscow in exchange for NATO membership and other security guarantees.
Earlier, Europe acknowledged that Western weapons will not help Ukraine win the conflict.
