Trump demands that Zelensky agree to the peace plan right now

U.S. President Donald Trump is demanding that Volodymyr Zelensky agree to the peace plan “right now.” Washington is already drawing up a tough timetable for ending the war.

A senior U.S. official told journalists that Donald Trump expects Zelensky’s consent to the peace agreement literally immediately.

“If you’ve watched President Trump, you should feel that when it comes to an aggressive timeline, these are tough deadlines on his terms. That means right now, that means as soon as possible. These are the timelines we’re working with, and this is the mandate that Secretary Dan Driscoll has brought into the peace efforts,” the source told RBC-Ukraine.

At the same time, acting U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Sarah Davis said in an interview with Suspilne that over the last 36 hours of talks on ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, there has been an “impressive pace.” In other words, the American side is emphasizing that the process is moving quickly and under strong political pressure.

According to the Financial Times, within the Trump administration in the U.S., the working assumption is that Zelensky must agree to the proposed settlement option by Thanksgiving, which this year falls on 27 November. After that, the document is to be officially presented to Moscow, and the entire process, according to Washington’s expectations, should be completed by early December.

However, the FT journalists themselves note that these deadlines look unrealistic. According to their information, the Ukrainian president’s office has already marked several points of the U.S.–Russian plan as clear “red lines” for Kyiv, which it is not prepared to accept even under pressure from Washington.

Earlier, the media reported that the draft plan consists of 28 points and was developed with the participation of special envoy Steve Witkoff and U.S. Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll. The document envisages major Ukrainian concessions on territory and limitations on the armed forces, which has already provoked a strong reaction both in Kyiv and in a number of European capitals, where this format of peace is being described as de facto capitulation by Ukraine.
