Macron intends to speak with Putin by phone in the coming weeks

French President Emmanuel Macron said preparations are underway for a conversation with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin in the coming weeks.

Macron said this while answering questions from the TV channel France 2, BFMTV reports.

“Everything has to be organized in the short term. We must continue supporting Ukraine in its efforts to defend itself. That’s what we are doing. We are currently organizing contact that should take place in the coming weeks,” the French president said.

As a reminder, Ukraine, France, and the United Kingdom yesterday signed a declaration of intent to send Western peacekeepers to Ukraine — something Russia opposes.

The day before, Macron also said he intended to establish contact with Putin “as soon as possible.”
