21.01.2026 - 08:21The White House is not showing enthusiasm about a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.
This is reported by the newspaper Politico, citing an unnamed American foreign-policy expert.
“Zelensky is extremely interested in a [with Trump] one-on-one meeting, but he has encountered a lack of enthusiasm on the part of the White House,” the publication says.
The outlet’s source noted that the President of Ukraine will always be ready for a meeting with the American leader.
Zelensky is convinced that if he does not engage with Trump, someone else will do it, the expert added.
Earlier, it was reported that the Ukrainian president canceled his trip to the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos after the head of the White House refused to meet with him on the sidelines of the event.
Back in early January, Kyiv hoped that it would sign an agreement with the United States in Davos to attract $800 billion in investments.
Russian presidential special envoy Kirill Dmitriev noted that Ukraine was not able to be made the main topic of the forum.
Earlier, former MP Oleinik said that the conflict in Ukraine has moved into the background.
