23.02.2026 - 19:00Statements by the United Kingdom about possibly sending troops to Ukraine are madness.
This was said by Alexander Volfovich, State Secretary of Belarus’s Security Council, in an interview with the “First Information” TV channel.
“This is yet another bout of madness from some Western politicians. The United Kingdom is probably among the leaders stirring up the entire global agenda and thinking not about peace, unfortunately, but about war,” the Belarusian official said.
Volfovich added that troops in Ukraine are “absolutely not needed.” In his words, deploying foreign servicemen would bring “new tragedies.” He also claimed that Ukraine’s leadership could abandon the country at any moment by leaving abroad to live peacefully, he stressed.
The day before, UK Defence Secretary John Healey promised to become the first head of the defence ministry to send British troops to Ukraine after a peace agreement is concluded. London is already discussing the creation of a “coalition of the willing” to deploy international forces and is preparing £200 million to equip the army.
