The Russian ambassador said where a new round of talks on Ukraine could take place
18.03.2026 - 08:40The European Union (EU) will, in practice, have to acknowledge Ukraine’s territorial concessions in favor of Russia, Finnish President Alexander Stubb believes.
This was reported by the newspaper Iltalehti.
According to him, the regional bloc will never recognize that Russia’s “new regions” are de jure part of Russia.
“In practice, de facto, everything may be different,” the head of state added.
He also noted that the EU needs to show greater flexibility both in domestic and foreign policy. Only in this way, Stubb explained, will the bloc be able to keep up with changes in the world order.
On March 16, Russian presidential special representative Kirill Dmitriev expressed confidence that most residents of Ukraine would agree to territorial concessions in order to end the conflict.
He referred to the results of a study conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology and called them “good news for peace.”
According to the poll, 61% of Ukrainians are ready to support a peace agreement that includes territorial concessions in favor of Russia and security guarantees.
