03.04.2026 - 20:04Russia has not given Ukraine any deadline for withdrawing its troops from Donbas in order to end the war.
This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov while speaking with journalists.
“No, there are no deadlines. All of that is incorrect,” he said, commenting on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s claim that Kyiv had been given two months to withdraw its forces.
At the same time, Peskov still stressed the need for Ukraine to pull its troops out of the region.
“We have repeatedly said that in order to stop the hot phase of the ‘special military operation,’ Ukraine must withdraw its forces from Donbas. This must be done,” the Kremlin spokesman added.
Earlier, Zelensky said that Russia was giving Kyiv two months to withdraw its troops from Donetsk region, warning that otherwise the terms of peace would be different.
A few days ago, Peskov said that the Ukrainian president should have withdrawn troops from Donbas “yesterday,” because that “could have saved many lives and stopped the war.”
Russia’s Foreign Ministry, for its part, said that Washington is continuing attempts to persuade Kyiv to agree to a compromise with Moscow and accept the arrangements reached in Anchorage by U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Those arrangements allegedly include the withdrawal of the Ukrainian armed forces from Donbas.
